What is TOWIU?
TOWIU ("The Only Way Is Up") is a private, calm life-planning tool. It brings together a life map, a weekly planning loop, a planner and calendar, and a quiet way to coordinate time with friends. The idea is to help you see where your life is going, turn intentions into concrete next steps, protect your time, and spend more of it with the people you care about.
What is TOWIU not?
TOWIU is not therapy and not a medical or diagnostic tool. It is not a social network — there is no feed, no public profile, no vanity counts, and nothing designed to keep you scrolling. It is not ad-funded, and your data is never sold. It is a private system for your own planning, not a place to perform for other people.
What is free?
The full planner is free, and it stays free: the life map, the weekly loop, the planner and calendar, routines and check-ins, and friend availability. You do not need a paid plan to live in TOWIU day to day. The only thing behind the paid plan is heavier use of the AI-assisted features.
What is the AI plan?
The optional AI plan costs €4 per month or €40 per year. Every account — free or paid — gets 25 free AI actions each month (things like parsing a capture into tasks, suggesting a weekly plan, or reasoning about meeting times). The paid plan lifts that monthly allowance within fair use. AI is always a helper: it explains which of your data it used, and any change it proposes waits for your explicit confirmation before it happens. You can also turn AI off entirely for your account. See the pricing page for the plan summary.
How does friend privacy work?
Friends share free/busy only by default — they can see when you are busy, never the titles or details of what you are doing. Sharing anything more is an explicit, per-friend choice you make yourself. TOWIU never exposes your private planning content to a friend just because you are connected.
How does calendar sync behave?
If you connect Google Calendar, TOWIU imports your events as busy-only blocks by default, so your availability reflects real life. TOWIU never writes to your own calendar events. When it does write back — for confirmed activities and focus blocks — it writes only to a separate, dedicated "TOWIU" calendar it creates. Your existing events are never modified, and when external and TOWIU plans conflict, the external event wins and the affected TOWIU plan is flagged for re-planning.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes, both are built into the app and neither requires emailing anyone. You can download a full export of your data from the data-export page, and you can delete your account — including your private data — from the account-deletion page at any time. Deletion removes your private data and keeps only a minimal record to prevent silent recreation of the account. See the privacy policy for details.
How does TOWIU handle crisis or wellbeing moments?
The wellbeing features — check-ins, trends, overload observations — are non-clinical planning aids, not treatment or diagnosis. If something you write looks crisis-related, TOWIU responds with a calm, static message pointing to real crisis resources rather than AI advice. It will not try to counsel you. If you are in crisis, please contact local emergency services or a crisis hotline — TOWIU is not a substitute for professional help.
Who builds TOWIU?
TOWIU is a small, independent, mission-first project. The goal is not to maximize revenue or attention; it is to build a tool that genuinely helps people plan a life they want. That is why the core is free, there are no ads, and the paid plan only covers the cost of heavier AI use.
How do I send feedback?
Feedback is welcome and shapes what gets built. You can send it from within the app, or write to hello@towiu.org. Bug reports, rough edges, and honest reactions are all useful.
